I always remember my brother getting out of bed super early to check to see if it had snowed. If so, he'd run into our room screaming, "Andy! Andy! Get up! The snow is perfect!" We'd be ready and out the door in a flash, dragging our new sleds up the butte we lived on. It was serious business to us. The snow had to be just right and speed was what we were after. We'd pack snowballs to use as a 'wax' for the bottom of our sleds. We'd prep a jump dead center of the track. Then finally, scarfs so tight we could barely see, the marathon sled day began. Slowly one at a time our neighborhood friends would show up and integrate into the rotation like clock work. Like I said, serious business.
