The Blue Creek flood plains erupted in color this morning. Only fitting for what was a very emotional evening listening to stories by our local guide, Pergish. It was a real honor that he invited us to camp on sacred Yurok lands. Pergish shared with us that this beautiful creek we slept by and explored, is not only the spawning ground for hundreds of thousands of salmon, steelhead, and much more, but it's actually the epicenter for the Yurok people. A holy place. He then went on to explain that when a Yurok passes they are buried on their families land and no matter where it's located, those who have been put away, always face their sacred Blue Creek. What a humbling moment. Glad to be a part of something so much bigger than myself. @westernriversconservancy www.savebluecreek.com
